Anwendung
Cefuroxime Sodium: A Second Generation Cephalosporin with Increased Stability to β-Lactamase
Cefuroxime (sodium) is a second generation semisynthetic cephalosporin known to interfere with the final stages of peptidoglycan synthesis in bacterial cell wall. Cefuroxime has a broad bactericidal activity against both Gram-positive and Gram-negative organisms. Cefuroxime has a methoxyimino group in the 7-position side chain. The methoxyimino group give cefuroxime stability against β-lactamase and enhances the antibacterial activity against Gram-negative organisms. For your reference, cefuroxime axetil [C3750] is an ester prodrug which permits the oral administration of cefuroxime. (The product is for research purpose only.)
