Ion-Catalyzed Cross-Coupling Reaction

Botta et al. have reported the efficient iron-catalyzed cross-coupling reaction between 1-bromoalkynes and Grignard-derived organocuprate reagents using Tris(2,4-pentanedionato)iron(III) as a catalyst, in which the corresponding internal alkynes can be obtained in moderate to high yields. This methodology is so simple and versatile that further applications can be expected for this novel synthetic way of preparing various internal alkynes.
