Ethacridine Lactate (another name: Acrinol): An Antibacterial Agent, an Inducer of Uterine Contractions and a PARG Inhibitor
Ethacridine lactate (other name: Acrinol or Ethodin) has been used as an antibacterial agent and as an inducer of uterine contractions.1,2) Recent studies have shown that ethacridine is an inhibitor of poly(ADP-ribose) glycohydrolase (PARG), which degrades poly(ADP-ribose) by hydrolyzing the ribose-ribose bonds present in poly(ADP-ribose).3,4) The inhibitors may induce apoptosis in cancer cells. (The product is for research use only.)
