7-Aminodesacetoxycephalosporanic Acid (7-ADCA): A Starting Compound for Semisynthetic Cephalosporin Antibiotics
7-Aminodesacetoxycephalosporanic acid (7-ADCA) is conventionally produced from penicillin. It is used as a starting compound for semisynthetic cephalosporin antibiotics. Differences in side chain structure at the 7-position directly affect their antibiotic activity.
