Hydrotrope research
Hydrotropes are small molecules able to enhance the solubility of hydrophobic substances in aqueous media. Their water-solubility can significantly enhance the solubility of organic solutes such as esters, alcohols, aldehydes, ketones, hydrocarbons, and fats.1) 1-Butyl-1-methylpyrrolidinium chloride has been reported to enhance the solubility of vanillin (H0264) and gallic acid (G0011) in aqueous media.2)
