Quorum sensing research / Biofilm research
(E)-4-Methoxycinnamaldehyde has been reported to inhibit autoinducer-2-based quorum sensing (QS) in Vibrio spp, thereby affecting the starvation response, biofilm formation, pigment production and protease production in vitro.1) When the QS response regulator LuxR is incubated with its promoter DNA in the presence of trans-2-nonenal, binding of LuxR to the DNA was strongly inhibited.2)
