Application
Prazosin Hydrochloride: A Highly Selective α1-Adrenoceptor Antagonist
Prazosin hydrochloride, a highly lipophilic quinazoline derivative, is a highly selective α1-adrenoceptor antagonist. Prazosin causes a decrease in total peripheral resistance and a decrease in the contractions in smooth muscle of prostatic capsule. Animal studies have suggested that the effects of prazosin are related to blockade of α1-adrenoceptors. Prazosin hydrochloride is used to treat hypertension and benign prostatic hyperplasia in clinical use. (The product is for research purpose only.)
