The primary resistance mechanism of microbes to β-lactam antibiotics is hydrolysis of the antibiotics by β-lactamase.1) 1,4-Phenylenediboronic acid is one of boronic acid compounds having β-lactamase (AmpC) inhibition activity (Ki = 3.9 ± 0.2 μM).2)
