Voglibose (AO-128) is a pseudo-monosaccharide α-glucosidase inhibitor, such as miglitol [
M2302]. α-Glucosidase (also called maltase) is an enzyme, and catalyzes the hydrolysis of terminal 1,4-linked α-glucose residues of oligosaccharides and disaccharides to a single α-glucose molecule. Miglitol lowers blood sugar by inhibiting the enzyme α-glucosidase in the gastrointestinal tract, resulting in delayed glucose absorption. In addition, α-glucosidase inhibitors do not stimulate insulin release and therefore do not result in hypoglycemia. (The product is for research purpose only.)
