This product is chemically-processing lignin derived from natural sources.
TCI sells sodium ligninsulfonate [L0098], lignin (dealkaline) [L0045] and lignin (alkaline) [L0082].
Firstly, L0098 is prepared from needle-leaved trees and broad-leaved trees through the treatment of sodium sulfite.
Secondly, L0045 is prepared from L0098 through the chemical modifications such as partial desulfonation, oxidation, hydrolysis and demethylation.
Furthermore, L0082 is prepared form L0045 by adjusting the pH value in alkaline range (pH8.0-10.0) and is more water-soluble than L0045. Although L0045 is less water-soluble than L0082, it becomes easier to dissolve in water when heated.
The structural difference is as below;
Amount of sulfo group: L0098 > L0045 = L0082
Amount of carboxy group: L0098 < L0045 = L0082
L0045 and L0082 have the same amount of sulfo group and carboxy group but their pH are different from each other.
