An Efficient Indium-catalyzed Hydration of Nitriles

Kim et al. have reported an efficient Indium-catalyzed hydration of nitriles to amides. According to their results, in the presence of a catalytic amount of InCl3, the reaction proceeds with the aid of acetaldoxime as an effective water surrogate to produce amides in high yields. A one-pot conversion of aldoximes to amides can also be carried out by using a similar concept.
