Polysilane-supported Palladium Catalyst Suitable for Continuous Flow Hydrogenation
Poly(methylphenyl)silane supported palladium/alumina hybrid catalyst (Pd / (PSi-Al2O3), 1), developed by Kobayashi et al. is an immobilized palladium nanoparticle. 1 as a catalyst can be applicable to hydrogenation under hydrogen gas flow conditions, Suzuki-Miyaura coupling reactions, Sonogashira coupling reactions, and hydrosilylation.1) It has been reported to hydrogenate C-C double and triple bonds by using the continuous flow reactor incorporated with 1-filled column. Hydrogenation of liquid substrates proceeds quantitatively under neat conditions and the products are obtained.2) 1 can be used for hydrogenation of nitrobenzene, deprotection of a Cbz group, and hydrogenation in water. The application to large-scale production is in progress.
