Application
Cl-976: An Orally Active and Selective Inhibitor of Acyl-Coenzyme A (ACAT)
CI-976 is an orally active and selective inhibitor of Acyl-Coenzyme A (ACAT, also known as sterol O-acyltransferase or SOAT), which is an intracellular enzyme that catalyzes the formation of cholesteryl esters from cholesterol and fatty acyl-CoA.1) Recently, many studies have suggested that ACAT-1 (SOAT-1) plays a critical role in cancer initiation and progression and is an attractive target for novel anticancer therapies.2,3) For this reason, the inhibitor CI-976 is being used in cancer research. (The product is for research use only.)
