Quetiapine Hemifumarate: A Multi-Acting Receptor Targeted Antipsychotic (MARTA)
Quetiapine hemifumarate is known as a multi-acting receptor targeted antipsychotic (MARTA), such as clozapine [C2547] and olanzapine [O0393]. Quetiapine has greater affinity for serotonin 5-HT2A and dopamine D1 and D2 receptors. Furthemore, quetiapine has various affinities for multiple receptors, including 5-HT1A and α1- and α2-adrenergic receptors. While, quetiapine binds weakly to benzodiazepine (BZD) and muscarinergic M1A receptors. The precise mechanism of action is unknown, but quetiapine is used as a thienobenzodiazepine atypical antipsychotic. (The product is for research purpose only.)
