Application
Enalaprilat: The Active Metabolite of Enalapril, an ACE Inhibitor
Enalaprilat is the active metabolite of enalapril [E1010] which is an angiotensin-converting-enzyme inhibitor (ACE inhibitor). Angiotensin I is converted by angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) to angiotensin II, a potent endogenous vasoconstrictor substance. ACE inhibitors, such as enalaprilat and captopril [C1580], occupy the active center of ACE so that cleavage of angiotensin I is inhibited competitively. The elevation of blood pressure is then attenuated or abolished by diminished production of angiotensin II. (The product is for research purpose only.)
