Description

• Avidin-biotin binding, the most robust non-covalent protein-ligand interaction in nature, is widely used in biotechnology. When HABA binds to avidin, the resulting complex absorbs light at 500 nm. When a sample containing biotin is added, the HABA is displaced by biotin binding to the avidin. Consequently, the absorbance at 500 nm decreases proportionally to the amount of biotin bound to HABA.

Storage

• Store at 4 ºC. Use within 1 year.

Important Information

• After biotin labeling, remove any unreacted biotinylation reagent from the sample that will be used for biotin quantification using a column or dialysis.
  The sample must be dissolved in PBS or TBS for biotin quantification. Avoid buffers containing potassium. If you wish to use a different buffer, compare it with PBS or TBS to ensure there are no issues.
