Efflux pump research
Potengriffioside A, also called tiliroside, has been reported to act as an efflux pump inhibitor.1) The compound didn’t display antibacterial activity against Staphylococcus aureus strain SA-1199B but, in combination with antibiotics, reduced those minimum inhibitory concentrations (MICs) (i.e. norfloxacin (N0817);16-fold, ciprofloxacin (C2510, C2227); 16-fold, lomefloxacin (L0216); four-fold, ofloxacin (O0403); two-fold).
