Electrophilic Iodinating Reagent

N-Iodosaccharin, which was developed by Dolenc, is an electrophilic iodinating reagent, showing higher reactivity and selectivity than other iodinating reagents, such as N-iodosuccinimide (NIS), which is frequently used for iodination. For example, this reagent reacts smoothly with activated aromatics such as phenols and anilines in good yields. Hydroxy and amino groups do not react under the reaction conditions.
