Fluorinated Bifunctional Synthetic Block

Fluoroacetate 1 has an ethoxycarbonyl group, phenylthio group and fluorine atom on the same carbon atom and is used as a monofluorinated synthetic block. For example, Wong et al. reported on a synthetic method using 1 for fluorocyclopropane derivative 4 which is a key framework toward the synthesis of mGluR 2 receptor agonist MGS0028. Since the phenylthio group and ethoxycarbonyl group of 1 may be separately elaborated, 1 is expected to be of significant use in a variety of fields.
