Application
Olsalazine Sodium: A Prodrug of 5-Aminosalicylic Acid (5-ASA)
Olsalazine sodium is a prodrug of 5-aminosalicylic acid (5-ASA) [A0317] which is an anti-inflammatory agent. Olsalazine is formed by combining two 5-ASA molecules with an azo bond, and is split by intestinal bacteria to two 5-ASA. Olsalazine sodium is commonly used in the treatment of inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD) such as ulcerative colitis and Crohn's disease (CD) and rheumatoid arthritis (RA). (The product is for research purpose only.)
