Mild Iodinating and Oxidizing Reagent (Barluenga’s Reagent)

Bis(pyridine)iodonium tetrafluoroborate, is an iodinating and oxidizing reagent, which was developed by Barluenga et al. This reagent is capable of iodinating alkenes and aromatic compounds regioselectively under mild conditions to afford the corresponding iodinated products. Moreover, the oxidizing reactions from various alcohols to the corresponding ketones and aldehydes using this reagent have been also reported, which shows its usefulness and versatility.
