Dicumyl peroxide: An Organic Peroxide for a Rubber Crosslinking Agent, a Polymerization Initiator or a Curing Agent

Organic peroxides contain the -O-O- bond within the molecular structure, and the chemical properties of the peroxides originate from this bond. Dicumyl peroxide is used for the crosslinking of natural and synthetic rubbers, as well as thermoplastic polyolefins. Furthermore, dicumyl peroxide is widely used as a polymerization initiator for various synthetic resins or as a curing agent for unsaturated polyester resins. Dicumyl peroxide (contains ca. 60% CaCO3) is supplied as a mixture with CaCO3 to increase stability, and classified as environmentally hazardous substance Class 9 (Miscellaneous dangerous goods), not as Class 5.2 (Organic peroxides).
