Application
Tizanidine Hydrochloride: A Centrally Acting α2-Adrenergic Receptor Agonist
Tizanidine hydrochloride is a centrally acting α2-adrenergic receptor agonist and presumably reduces spasticity of the muscles by increasing presynaptic inhibition of motor neurons. Tizanidine is mainly metabolized by cytochrome P450 (CYP) 1A2. Tizanidine is widely used to manage spasticity caused by multiple sclerosis (MS), acquired brain injury and spinal cord injury (SCI). In addition, some fast dissolving tablets of tizanidine hydrochloride have been developed. (The product is for research purpose only.)
