　Tumors are groups of abnormal cells that proliferate independently of the body's inherent "building plan". Benign tumors are non-cancerous growths in the body, and do not spread to other parts of the body. When the tumor cells form a lump or overgrowth, it is referred to as a cancerous tumor or cancer. Cancer remains a leading cause of death and is the subject of tremendous research. Anti-tumor, or anti-cancer, agents can slow tumor growth to prolong mammals' lives or improve their quality of life.
