Cycloastragenol: A Bioactive Triterpenoid Sapogenin Isolated from Astragalus Roots
Cycloastragenol is a bioactive triterpenoid sapogenin isolated from the Chinese herbal medicine Astragalus roots (e.g., Radix Astragali), and the aglycon derivative of astragaloside IV [CAS: 84687-43-4].1,2) It has been reported that cycloastragenol is an interesting bioactive compound. For example, cycloastragenol has been reported as a stimulater of the phosphorylation of extracellular signal-regulated protein kinase (ERK)3), a potent telomerase activator in neuronal cells4,5), and an effective agent to inhibit of endoplasmic reticulum stress.6) (The product is for research purpose only.)
