Additive for Improving Exciton Diffusion Length in OPVs: DICO
Product
Advantages
- In bulk-heterojunction (BHJ) type organic photovoltaics (OPVs) employing non-fullerene acceptors such as PM6:L8-BO, the use of DICO as an additive results in higher power conversion efficiencies (PCEs) compared to devices fabricated with the conventional 1,8-diiodooctane.
- Active layers fabricated with DICO exhibit high PCEs even in thick-film OPVs, due to its longer exciton diffusion lengths.
Reference

Related Products
The PCE of BHJ-type OPVs is significantly influenced by the morphology of the active layer. To control the morphology, various additives are employed during the active layer fabrication. 1,8-Diiodooctane and 1-chloronaphthalene are the most widely used as additives. Here, the following additives have been mainly studied in π-conjugated polymers/non-fullerene acceptors systems.
