Isoquinolinesulfonamide derivatives have been developed as protein kinase inhibitors.1) Fasudil hydrochloride (1) is one of the derivatives and inhibits various protein kinases (an example; Tables 1).1-3)
Human embryonic stem (hES) cells are vulnerable to apoptosis upon cellular detachment or dissociation and the cloning efficiency of dissociated hES cells is generally low, for example 0.24~0.83%4) and 0.4%.5) Treatment of hES cells with 1 diminishes the cell-dissociation-induced apoptosis, resulting in the promotion of colony formation by undifferentiated cells (Table 2).6)
