Application
(±)-Naproxen: A Nonselective COX-1 and COX-2 Enzymes Inhibitor

(±)-Naproxen, a propionic acid derivative with a naphthalene nucleus, is a nonselective nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID). Naproxen works by reversibly inhibiting both the COX-1 and COX-2 enzymes. The enantiomer (S)-naproxen [M1021] is a more active form than the (R)-naproxen which causes liver damage. Therefore, resolutions of (±)-naproxen and enantioselective syntheses of (S)-naproxen have been reported. (The product is for research purpose only.)
