Nicotinic acid has three faces. The first is vitamin B
3 (called niacin) which is required for the synthesis of coenzymes, nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NAD) and nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide phosphate (NADP).
1) The second is an antilipemic agent which acts on the nicotinic acid receptor, inhibiting the enzyme triglyceride lipase.
2-4) The last is a bridging ligand for coordination polymers which is used for the synthesis of MOF/PCP.
5) For your reference, we have its analogue, acipimox [
M2053]. (The product is for research purpose only.)
