Application
Lu AA 21004 (Vortioxetine): An Antidepressant with Multimodal Activity
Lu AA 21004 (vortioxetine) is a 5-HT3, 5-HT7 and 5-HT1D receptor antagonist, 5-HT1B receptor partial agonist, 5-HT1A receptor agonist and an inhibitor of serotonin (5-HT) transporter (SERT). In clinical use, Lu AA 21004 is used as an antidepressant. The mechanism of action is not fully understood, but is thought to be related to its enhancement of serotonergic activity in the CNS through inhibition of the reuptake of 5-HT, and other activities including these receptor antagonism and receptor agonism. (The product is for research use only.)
