Application
Inhibition of gingipain / Suppression of biofilm formation
Curcumin has been reported to inhibit Porphyromonas gingivalis Arg- and Lys-specific proteinase activities in a dose-dependent manner.1) In addition, confocal laser-scanning microscopy revealed that curcumin suppressed Porphyromonas gingivalis OMZ314 homotypic biofilm formation and heterotypic biofilm formation between P. gingivalis and Streptococcus gordonii.
