Jatrorrhizine Chloride: A Protoberberine Alkaloid with a Wide Range of Pharmacological Activities
Jatrorrhizine chloride is a protoberberine alkaloid found in some plant species, such as Coptidis rhizome and Enantia chlorantha. It has been reported that jatrorrhizine chloride has a wide range of pharmacological activities, including anti-cancer, anti-inflammatory, antimalarial, anti-diabetic, antimicrobial and antifungal activities.1-5) Recently, jatrorrhizine chloride has been attracting attention as an acetylcholinesterase inhibitor, and a novel therapeutic candidate for the treatment of Alzheimer’s disease.5,6) (The product is for research purpose only.)
