Typical Procedure:
To a mixture of 1 (254 mg, 0.5 mmol), 18-crown 6-ether (79 mg, 0.3 mmol), and furan (1 mL) in dry CH2Cl2 (5 mL) under N2 is added KF (79 mg, 1.5 mmol). The reaction mixture is stirred for 30 min at room temperature. The resulting precipitate is removed by filtration. The filtrate is evaporated under reduced pressure, and the residue is chromatographed on a silica gel column (hexanes:EtOAc = 6:1) to give 2 (23 mg, 31%) as colorless crystals.
