The primary resistance mechanism of microbes to β-lactam antibiotics is hydrolysis of the antibiotics by β-lactamase.1) 4-Methylphenylboronic acid is one of boronic acid compounds having β-lactamase (AmpC) inhibition activity (Ki = 5.4 ± 1.3 μM).2)
