Recently, perovskite solar cells have been receiving much attention and novel hole transport materials (HTMs) for the solar cell devices have been developed. Grimsdale et al. have reported a novel HTM containing a 3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene core (H101, 1).1) One advantage of using 1 is the simple synthetic pathway, compared with the spirobifluorene-based spiro-OMeTAD. Power conversion efficiency of the perovskite solar cell using 1 was 13.2% reported in 2014, which was comparable with that of the spiro-OMeTAD device (13.7%).1)
