Application
Indapamide: A Thiazide-Like Antihypertensive/Diuretic Agent
Indapamide is a thiazide-like antihypertensive/diuretic agent. Incidentally, thiazide diuretic agents include hydrochlorothiazide [H1274] and xipamide. Indapamide molecule contains both a polar sulfamoyl chlorobenzamide moiety and a lipid-soluble methylindoline moiety. Indapamide have a mild diuretic activity and a peripheral vasodilatory effect. The mechanism of action has not been completely elucidated, but indapamide affects the distal convoluted tubules, where they inhibit Na+/Cl- cotransport in the luminal membrane of tubule cells. Thus, reabsorption of NaCl and water is inhibited. (The product is for research purpose only.)
