Imatinib Mesylate: A Tyrosine Kinase Inhibitor and a Molecular-Targeted Agent
Imatinib mesylate and Imatinib [I0906] are synthetic tyrosine (Tyr) kinase inhibitors and molecular-targeted agents that specifically target several protein tyrosine kinases, such as stem-cell factor receptor (c-KIT), platelet-derived growth factor receptor (PDGF-R), and notably Bcr-Abl. Imatinib mesylate is used in the treatment of chronic myeloid leukemia (CML), gastrointestinal stromal tumors (GISTs) and a number of other malignancies. (The product is for research purpose only.)
