Application
Quinapril Hydrochloride: A Non-Peptide, Non-Sulfhydryl Angiotensin- Converting Enzyme (ACE) Inhibitor
Angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) is a peptidyl dipeptidase that catalyzes the conversion of angiotensin I to the vasoconstrictor, angiotensin II. Quinapril hydrochloride is an orally active, non-peptide, non-sulfhydryl angiotensin- converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitor. It is a prodrug and is de-esterified to the principal metabolite, quinaprilat, which is an inhibitor of ACE activity in human subjects and animals. The effects of quinapril in hypertension and in congestive heart failure (CHF) appear to result primarily from the inhibition of circulating and tissue ACE activity, thereby reducing angiotensin II formation. (The product is for research use only.)
