Tris Acetate: A Reagent for the Preparation of TAE (Tris Acetate - EDTA) Buffer
Tris(hydroxymethyl)aminomethane acetate (tris acetate) is widely used as a component of buffer solutions, especially for solutions of nucleic acids. Tris acetate is used for the preparation of TAE (Tris acetate - EDTA) buffer, which is used as a running buffer and in agarose gels. TAE buffer is often used for DNA and RNA agarose gel electrophoresis.
