5-Formyluracil: A Major Oxidation Product of Thymine in DNA, and an Epigenetic Modification of Cytosine and Thymine

5-Formyluracil is a major oxidation product of thymine in DNA, and an epigenetic modification of cytosine and thymine. Recently, it has been reported that the level of 5-formyluracil is higher in certain cancer tissues than in normal tissues adjacent to the tumor. Therefore, the detection of 5-formyluracil as a biomarker has attracted widespread attention.
