Ziprasidone: A Unique Combined 5-HT and Dopamine Receptor Antagonist
Ziprasidone is a combined 5-HT (serotonin, [S0370 (Hydrochloride)]) and dopamine [A0305 (Hydrochloride)] receptor antagonist. The mechanism of action of ziprasidone, as with other drugs having efficacy in schizophrenia, is unknown. However, it has been reported that has high affinity for serotonin 5-HT2A and dopamine D2 receptors in vitro.
