Application
Prodan: An Efficient Fluorescence Probe
2-(Dimethylamino)-6-propionylnaphthalene (Prodan) is widely used as an efficient fluorescence probe in chemistry and biochemistry, due to its significant Stokes shift (the wavelength span between that of the excitation and emitted spectra) in polar solvents. Prodan is used to assay the determination of drug-phospholipid complex formation and to study membrane surface properties.
