Anwendung
Doripenem: A Carbapenem Antibiotic with Broad-Spectrum Activity
Doripenem (S-4661) is a carbapenem antibiotic with broad-spectrum activity against Gram-negative and Gram-positive bacteria, including multidrug-resistant strains and Pseudomonad aeruginosa. Carbapenems, including doripenem, act fungicidally by inhibiting bacterial cell wall biosynthesis by binding to and inactivating penicillin-binding proteins (PBPs) which are essential enzymes for the biosynthesis. In addition, carbapenems are stable to most β-lactamases including AmpC β-lactamases and extended-spectrum β-lactamases. (The product is for research purpose only.)
