Application
Dexamethasone: A Synthetic Glucocorticoid with Potent Anti-Inflammatory Activities
Dexamethasone is a synthetic glucocorticoid compound with potent anti-inflammatory activities. Dexamethasone binds more powerfully to the glucocorticoid receptor than cortisol dose. Usually, glucocorticoid receptors (GRs) bind to heat shock protein 90 (HSP90). For the receptors, dexamethasone binding promotes dissociation of the receptor from HSP90 and conversion of the receptor to the DNA (glucocorticoid responsive element, GRE)-binding state, resulting in inducing change in regulating mRNA expression that lead to anti-inflammatory reactions.
