Application
Psoralen: A Photosensitizing Agents Found in Plants
Psoralen is a photosensitizing agents found in plants. In the skin, psoralen absorbs ultraviolet (long wave - UVA) light and acts like ultraviolet radiation. Psoralen acts as a DNA-crosslinking agent in the presence of UV and shows phototoxic property. On the other hand, psoralen is widely used in PUVA (psoralen + UVA) treatment for dermatological diseases, such as psoriasis, eczema, vitiligo, and cutaneous T-cell lymphoma. (The product is for research purpose only.)
