Application
Allylation Reagent
Typical Procedure:
A solution of allyl 2,2,2-trichloroacetimidate (2 mmol) in cyclohexane (2 mL) and subsequently BF3·Et2O (20 µL) are added to a stirred solution of the carboxylic acid (1 mmol) in CH2Cl2 (1 mL). After stirring at room temperature overnight the precipitated trichloroacetamide is removed by filtration. The filtrate is washed with 5% NaHCO3 aq., brine and then dried (Na2SO4). The solvent is evaporated under reduced pressure and the residue is purified by distillation or column chromatography using petroleum ether (40-60 °C) / EtOAc (9 : 1) as an eluent.
