Baohuoside I: An Anticancer Metabolite of Icariin
Herba Epimedii is one of most popular herbs used in China traditionally for the treatment of multiple diseases. Baohuoside I (a synonym: Icariside II) is a hydrolysis metabolite of icariin [I0862] which is derived from Herba Epimedii.1,2) There are reported that baohuoside I possess anticancer activities against various human cancer cell lines in vitro and mouse tumor models in vivo via their effects on multiple biological pathways including STAT3, PI3K/AKT, MAPK/ERK, COX-2/PGE2 and β-Catenin.3,4) In addition, baohuoside I exerts its antimetastatic effect through the downregulation of CXCR4 (CXC chemokine receptor type 4) expression.5) (The product is for research purpose only.)
