Application
Etravirine: A Diarylpyrimidine NNRTI with Inherent Structural Flexibility
Etravirine (TMC125) is a non-nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitor (NNRTI) of human immunodeficiency virus type 1 (HIV-1). Etravirine binds directly to reverse transcriptase (RT) and blocks RNA-dependent and DNA-dependent DNA polymerase activities by causing a disruption of the catalytic site of the enzyme. Diarylpyrimidine NNRTI, such as etravirine, have inherent structural flexibility, helping to maintain activity against a wide range of resistance mutations. On the other hand, etravirine does not inhibit the human DNA polymerases. (The product is for research purpose only.)
