1-Docosanol, A 22-Carbon-Long Saturated Alcohol with Antiviral Activity against Herpes Simplex Virus (HSV)
1-Docosanol, a 22-carbon-long saturated alcohol, exhibits antiviral activity against many lipid enveloped viruses including herpes simplex virus (HSV). Some studies have demonstrated that docosanol inhibits fusion between the plasma membrane and the HSV envelope, thus preventing viral entry into target cells and subsequent viral replication.1,2) (The product is for research purpose only.)
