O6-Benzylguanine: An Inhibitor of O6-Alkyulguanine DNA Alkyltransferase (AGT)
O6-Alkyulguanine DNA alkyltransferase (AGT, a protein encoded by the gene MGMT) is a unique DNA repair protein that acts as a single agent to directly remove alkyl groups located at the O6 position of guanine from DNA, restoring DNA in one step and is responsible for protecting both tumor and normal cells from DNA-damaging chemotherapeutic agents. O6-Benzylguanine, a guanine analog, is an inhibitor of AGT and depletes AGT in human tumors. And then, inactivation of AGT increases the efficacy of chemotherapeutic agents. (The product is for research purpose only.)
